Pseudosphinx tetrio on Plumeria, Caracas, Venezuela,

If you have corrections to offer, please contact This very tentative checklist is a copy of the Sphingidae of Venezuela checklist, due to 1) the proximity
of Curacao to northern Venezuela, and 2) the strong flying abilities of members of the Sphingidae family.

A September 14, 2012, Google search for "Moths of Curacao" produced the following result:
Coral Reef Photos by Barry B. Brown where Pseudosphinx tetrio, Enyo lugubris, Xylophanes tersa.
I am confident that Curacao is home to many Sphingidae, but there are probably many Sphingidae on the Venezuela list that are from southern Venezuela that would not be found in Curacao. Higher altitude species probably would also not be found on Caracao which has its highest elevation around 372m.
Many thanks to those who have already submitted photos and information. The CATE Sphingidae site has been extremely helpful regarding descriptions and determinations. If there are mistakes on this site, they are my own. Bill Oehlke.
