DISTRIBUTION:

Erinnyis alope dispersa (Wing span: 80-98mm), flies on the Galapagos Islands, the specimen type locality.

FLIGHT TIMES:

Erinnyis alope dispersa are on the wing from February-April and then again in June.

Adults nectar at flowers.

ECLOSION:

Adults eclose from pupae formed in loose cocoons spun among surface litter.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen.

EGGS, LARVAE, PUPAE:

Larvae probably feed on papaya (Carica papaya) and on cassava (Manihot esculenta).
