DISTRIBUTION:

Manduca camposi flies in
Ecuador (specimen type locality), Loja; and in
Peru: Piura. It may be limited to dry regions in southwestern Ecuador and northwestern Peru.

There is a very prominent, continuous, jagged, white band from the costa to the inner margin, obtusely angled near its midpoint, between the second and third postmedian lines. The cell spot is tiny and white without any connection to the dark costa. Tha am line is also bordered in white.

FLIGHT TIMES:

Manduca camposi adults fly in January-February and possibly in other months.

ECLOSION:

Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen. Adults take nectar from flowers.
