DISTRIBUTION:
Manduca hannibal hamilcar
flies in
Brazil (specimen type locality): Rio de Janeiro; Espirito Santo (LSR), and in
Argentina: Misiones (EB).
I expect it can also be found in southeastern Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo, Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in the eastern forests.

FLIGHT TIMES:
Manduca hannibal hamilcar adults fly in July in Espirito Santo, Brazil (LSR), and probably in other months??
Diogo Luiz reports a late September flight in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
ECLOSION:
Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.
SCENTING AND MATING:
Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the
abdomen. Adults take nectar from flowers.
