DISTRIBUTION:
Nyceryx lunaris, approximate wingspan: 72-74mm,
flies in
Ecuador, the specimen type locality, and in
Panama and
probably in Colombia.
It can be distinguished from other Nyceryx species by the semitransparent spots in the distal half of the
forewing and middle of the hindwing, and the salmon-pink basal area of the hindwing upperside.

FLIGHT TIMES:
Moths are probably on the wing in just about every month.
ECLOSION:
Adults eclose, usually within three weeks.
SCENTING AND MATING:
Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen.
