DISTRIBUTION:
 Orecta comus (wingspan: males: 75-85mm; females: 104-107mm // forewing length: males: 34-41mm; females: 49-51mm) flies in
Brazil: southern Maranhao; at elevations near 480-500m.
FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:
 
Orecta comus adults are on the wing in southern Maranhao in October-November-December. There are possibly additional flight months.
Both males and females respond to lights, but usually for a short period just after dusk.
Orecta comus larvae possibly feed upon plants in the Lauraceae family.
