DISTRIBUTION:

Stolidoptera cadioui (wingspan: approx. 83-86-89mm, females: probably larger than males) flies in
northwestern South America in western
Ecuador: Esmeraldas (HT); Imbabura (ACT) and
western Colombia.

I suspect fresh specimens are green and grey-green, but quickly turn to brown with exposure to sun, although there may be both green and brown forms.

FLIGHT TIMES:

Alan C. Trimble indicates there is a September flight in Santa Rosa, Intag, Imbabura, Ecuador.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen.

Males come in to lights quite frequently but females are almost never taken that way.
